Educational Technologies

To get started integrating technology into your teaching and learning practice here are some examples of tools you can use and how they can be used.

Other Technologies available

SoftChalk

Create multimedia content documents so your students can review, re-visit, re-read, read further, and engage in gaming and self testing with your course content. SoftChalk is licensed and available for use for faculty working for MCCCD. What SoftChalk does.

Voice Over Lectures

There are many ways to use technology for your lectures, one is to record your lectures. We often hear that faculty do not want students recording their lectures yet there is a reason some of your students want to record your lectures, to better retain the content! Why not take control? Consider taking your particularly challenging lectures, the ones you know your students struggle with, and record audio to it allowing them to relisten to your crucial points again and again.  Some voice over PP options at MCC are: Breeze Presenter, Camtasia, Jing (free), Audacity (free), or PP itself.

Voki/SitePal

Create an avatar for your online portion of your course.  An avatar can add some personality to your site or serve as a "teaching assistant." This is a Web 2.0 technology and therefore free with advertising and exists outside MCCCD.

SitePal or Voki
